Experienced Carpenter
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Carpenter specialising in both first and second fix carpentry to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 10 years of hands-on experience in the carpentry field, demonstrating proficiency in all aspects of first and second fix carpentry work. This position offers opportunities for both full-time employment and subcontractor engagements, with the expectation of working Monday to Friday. A valid driving license is required for this role.
Responsibilities:
- Perform first fix carpentry tasks including structural work, framing, and installation of joists, studs, and roof trusses.
- Execute second fix carpentry duties such as installing doors, skirting boards, architraves, and fitted furniture to a high standard of craftsmanship.
- Interpret and follow construction plans and specifications accurately to ensure precise execution of carpentry tasks.
- Utilise a variety of hand and power tools effectively and safely to complete carpentry projects with efficiency.
- Liaise with other tradespeople and contractors on-site to coordinate carpentry activities and ensure timely project completion.
- Maintain a clean and organised work area, adhering to health and safety regulations and best practices at all times.
- Troubleshoot and resolve any carpentry-related issues or challenges that may arise during the course of construction projects.
- Provide mentorship and guidance to junior carpenters and apprentices as needed, sharing knowledge and expertise for further development.
- Communicate effectively with project managers and supervisors to report progress, discuss project requirements, and address any concerns or inquiries.
- Adhere to project timelines and demonstrate a commitment to delivering high-quality carpentry workmanship within specified parameters.
Requirements:
- Minimum of 10 years of proven experience in carpentry, with expertise in both first and second fix carpentry techniques.
- Comprehensive knowledge of construction materials, tools, and techniques relevant to carpentry work.
- Strong attention to detail and precision, with the ability to produce high-quality carpentry finishes consistently.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot and resolve carpentry-related issues effectively.
- Valid driving license and reliable transportation for commuting to and from job sites.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team, demonstrating strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Flexibility to work Monday to Friday, with occasional overtime or weekend work as required by project demands.
- Commitment to maintaining a safe working environment and adhering to health and safety regulations and procedures.
