Experienced Carpenter

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Carpenter specialising in both first and second fix carpentry to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 10 years of hands-on experience in the carpentry field, demonstrating proficiency in all aspects of first and second fix carpentry work. This position offers opportunities for both full-time employment and subcontractor engagements, with the expectation of working Monday to Friday. A valid driving license is required for this role.

Responsibilities:

  1. Perform first fix carpentry tasks including structural work, framing, and installation of joists, studs, and roof trusses.
  2. Execute second fix carpentry duties such as installing doors, skirting boards, architraves, and fitted furniture to a high standard of craftsmanship.
  3. Interpret and follow construction plans and specifications accurately to ensure precise execution of carpentry tasks.
  4. Utilise a variety of hand and power tools effectively and safely to complete carpentry projects with efficiency.
  5. Liaise with other tradespeople and contractors on-site to coordinate carpentry activities and ensure timely project completion.
  6. Maintain a clean and organised work area, adhering to health and safety regulations and best practices at all times.
  7. Troubleshoot and resolve any carpentry-related issues or challenges that may arise during the course of construction projects.
  8. Provide mentorship and guidance to junior carpenters and apprentices as needed, sharing knowledge and expertise for further development.
  9. Communicate effectively with project managers and supervisors to report progress, discuss project requirements, and address any concerns or inquiries.
  10. Adhere to project timelines and demonstrate a commitment to delivering high-quality carpentry workmanship within specified parameters.

Requirements:

  1. Minimum of 10 years of proven experience in carpentry, with expertise in both first and second fix carpentry techniques.
  2. Comprehensive knowledge of construction materials, tools, and techniques relevant to carpentry work.
  3. Strong attention to detail and precision, with the ability to produce high-quality carpentry finishes consistently.
  4. Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot and resolve carpentry-related issues effectively.
  5. Valid driving license and reliable transportation for commuting to and from job sites.
  6. Ability to work independently as well as part of a team, demonstrating strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  7. Flexibility to work Monday to Friday, with occasional overtime or weekend work as required by project demands.
  8. Commitment to maintaining a safe working environment and adhering to health and safety regulations and procedures.
